Advance Glass & Facility Repairs is celebrating its 75th Anniversary on 9-4-2023.
Thank you for your business!
On September 4, 1948, Joe Spotora Sr. founded Advance Glass and Paint Co. in 14th Street in Chicago Heights, IL. The enterprise then started offering services such as painting and plastering, oil-base washable paint covering, white enamel coating, made-to-order glass for windows, tables and desk tops and ready-to-hang mirrors.
Below is the photo of Joe Spotora Jr., son of the original owner, along with the crews. The third guy from the right, the one with his hand in his pocket and mustache, started with Advanced Glass when he was 15 years old as a shelf stocker; he is still with the company working for American Handyman – he is now the main glazer after 42 years! Joe Spotora Jr. is still with the company managing all things glass shower doors.
Below is the photo of Joe and Colleen Bullaro. Both have known the Spotora family for years. They've both grown up in Chicago Heights with a heavy Italian heritage. There was about a small 30,000 population and about three families, that's why everyone knew everyone.
During those times, Advanced Glass & Paint Co. had everything - paint, flooring, picture framing, glass, mirror, etc. When Joe started remodeling homes, Advanced Glass & Paint Co. was a go-to for all carpet, mirror, and shower door needs. He then had this admiration for the business and its reputation. So when the company had to close down, Joe and Colleen Bullaro took the opportunity to acquire it to conserve its history and longevity in 2018 up to this day.
